Family Ice Center is an IRS recognized 501(c) 3 organization that relies on ice fees, sponsorships and donations. There are many ways you can donate to support this community based ice area.

Family Ice Annual Fund

Operating a full-service, year-round ice rink is expensive. Essential costs include Zamboni equipment, grounds maintenance, and many other ongoing facility needs. Recent improvements to Family Ice, including upgraded lighting and refrigerant system enhancements, have made a meaningful difference. Even so, the needs remain significant and continue to stretch the resources of a small nonprofit organization. Your donations to the Annual Fund help Family Ice maintain and improve this valuable community facility so it can serve local families and future generations for years to come.

Opportunity Skate

Opportunity Skate is fully funded by donations and offers skating opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to participate in at Family Ice Center. For instance, donation of $350.00 provides an hour of ice time along with skate rental for participants. Donations at any level help support this great program that serves over 2000 people every year.

Lee Twombly Pond

The Lee Twombly Pond is a community gathering place made possible by the generous gift of the Twombly family. Each winter, it welcomes children, families, friends, and neighbors for outdoor skating in a beautiful setting. At the edge of the rink, the pond house offers a warm place to gather and is also available to rent for private events. Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors, skating remains free and open to the public from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., from early December through late February, weather permitting. Support the pond with your donation and help ensure this important community resource thrives for years to come.

Godfrey Wood Memorial Fund

Established in honor of one of Family Ice Center’s founding board members and board president from 2014 through 2025, the Godfrey Wood Memorial Fund supports capital improvements that help sustain and strengthen Family Ice Center for the future. Major capital needs can be significant—for example, a chiller barrel can cost $300,000 or more. The Godfrey Wood Cup hockey tournament will debut in September 2026 in support of this effort. Your donation to the fund helps ensure that Family Ice can continue to serve the community for years to come.
